School Readiness Funding

Training Package:  "Using Puppets for Social and Emotional Learning."

This includes one day of hands-on training, a package of 6 puppets for your centre (optional) and three follow-up sessions.

This training is run by speech pathologist, Lucia Smith, who has used puppets successfully in her work with children for over 25 years.  You can host a training day of your own - or book into one of our Melbourne-based training sessions (University of Melbourne, Hawthorn Campus). 


Participants:

  • learn how to use hand puppets in a way that is engaging to children

  • explore current theories of social development and the levels of social understanding necessary for healthy relationships

  • learn about children's differing social and emotional capabilities

  • explore the three types of puppet use in the early childhood setting 

  • learn how to promote emotional language using the Word Bird puppet

  • learn how to model, mirror and explore social interactions using the Social Puppet program

  • learn how to demonstrate emotional regulation using a puppet
